Clip

A short, self-contained segment cut from a longer video, usually 15–60 seconds and formatted vertically for social feeds.

A clip is a short excerpt lifted from a longer recording that stands on its own — it opens with a hook, makes one point, and ends cleanly. Clips are the unit of short-form video: one long video typically yields ten to fifteen strong ones.

The best clips don't need the surrounding context to make sense, which is exactly what makes moment-selection the hard part of clipping.
