Jump Cut
An edit that removes a chunk of a continuous take, cutting straight from one moment to a later one.
A jump cut splices out the dead space — pauses, tangents, filler — between two points in the same shot, producing a small visual 'jump.' It's the defining edit of fast short-form video, keeping energy high by removing everything that isn't essential.
B-roll or a quick zoom is often used to mask the jump so it reads as intentional rather than jarring.
